“Last night was one of several wonderful community events at Hebrew College. The School of Jewish Music at Hebrew College honored the memory of Theodore Bikel by showing an incredibly loving movie about Bikel’s career inhabiting the world of Sholem Aleichem. Hankus Netsky, composer of the original score, and a talented cantorial alumna entertained guests in the Atrium before the movie. As I sat listening to the music, I watched the crowd grow, filling the stairs. I was struck by the sheer joy on their faces, listening to familiar tunes that segued into clapping, first to keep the rhythm and then for tremendous appreciation of the Yiddish melodies. Hebrew College was filled with music and community. What a beautiful night!” #HumansHC
