Why does Judaism look the way it does? Why don’t we offer sacrifices today? Why did the Rabbis and the early Christians part ways? We’ll study the primary sources of the Talmud and Midrash to explore the extraordinary people who inherited biblical religion and transformed it into Judaism as we know it. Each class will be devoted to a specific sage—Rabbi Akiva, Beruriah, Rabban Yochanan ben Zakkai, et al.

Hebrew College Me’ah Select courses offer in-depth academically oriented adult learning experiences led by outstanding faculty.
