Jewish congregational life is changing. Following the Covid-19 pandemic, according to Tablet Magazine, the percentage of synagogues that offer online worship opportunities has increased dramatically. According to one survey, before the pandemic less than a quarter of of respondents offered online worship; after the pandemic, that number would rise to nearly 85%.

Hebrew College Rabbinical School graduate Rabbi Josh Breindel and his Congregation Beth El of the Sudbury Valley approach the changing world as an opportunity. “A significant portion of our congregation values the opportunity to connect online. Everyone agrees that coming in person is a fuller experience but we live in an imperfect world,” he said to Tablet.

Along with a congregant at his own Congregation Beth El of the Sudbury Valley, Breindel was interviewed in the article by Tablet.

I miss having the regular large number of people to hug and eat together but I feel as this technology continues to develop, we will offer our members new ways to live Jewish lives.
