Hebrew College rabbinical student Hadar Ahuvia was awarded a grant from Combined Jewish Philanthropies (CJP) to create a contemporary solo performance titled “Nefesh.” According to CJP, “Her performance is inspired by Jewish mystical teaching, Ashkenazi chazones, and hasidic nigun as forms of individual and collective praise, celebration, self-soothing, mourning, and yearning.”

The annual Arts and Culture Community Impact Grants are awarded to Jewish artists in Greater Boston whose art, “Embraces the diversity and complexity of Jewish identity, community, and tradition; sparks questions, fosters curiosity, or invites communal dialogue on a range of topics both within the Jewish community and/or across diverse communities; [and] creatively interprets or reinvents Jewish teachings, ritual, tradition, or Jewish life.” CJP awarded $75,000 to 10 local artists and their creative teams, with $7,500 going to each project.
