“Every day, people are confronted by innumerable societal woes and general injustices, and, although many do not realize it, every day nonprofit organizations fight against such issues. Throughout the course of JTFGB last year, we reviewed the grant applications of various nonprofits, and in doing so, we learned a great deal about our communities. We had the opportunity to view some of the most innovative and inspiring programs going on today to address so many different topics and issues we were focusing on. While organizations that work to curtail some of these specific issues often operate under the radar (intentionally so in most cases based on the needs of their clientele), the sheer volume of these agencies was inspiring as it demonstrated how many people in our communities are passionate about it. Overall, participating in JTFGB’s philanthropy program showed me the multitude of nonprofit organizations while simultaneously demonstrating the individuality of each organization and this knowledge gained is invaluable for me.”

JTFGB at Prozdor of Hebrew College is a year-long program for Jewish high school students from across the metro Boston area to learn about professional philanthropy and grant-making through a Jewish lens, and allocate grants to effect real change in the causes they care about most.
