Changes to systems used college-wide and by the highest levels in the College that will result in interruption of service will be treated as major changes with additional communication requirements as defined in this policy. These systems include Email and webmail, database upgrades, firewall, telephones, and the College’s Internet and Intranet portals.
Minor change: routine patches, low impact changes. Change to any production system(s) that have minor to no impact, or outage to the customer’s ability to conduct their business.
Emergency change: changes made to address an issue that is impacting service levels because not doing so significantly increases risk or because the usual timeframe is too long. Change submitted in response to a problem or outage of a system. These are unplanned in nature and are submitted in response to emergencies that cause a change to happen immediately or in a shortened time frame.
Fast track change: a change that has a low probability, low impact to the stability of production systems, does not need extensive communication, and has potential benefits from implementing the change sooner than later.
