Honoring the holy work of dedicated volunteers
Guest Speaker:
Rabbi Sharon Cohen Anisfeld
President of Hebrew College
Please join us for a beautiful evening of learning, reflection, and a communal kosher fish/vegetarian meal. According to tradition, Zayin Adar is both the birth date and the yahrzeit of Moshe Rabbenu. It is said that God prepared Moshe for burial and laid him in an unmarked grave. Therefore, this day has become the day on which hevra kadisha around the world honor those who carry out the sacred work of preparing our dead (chesed shel emet). Some haverim fast on Zayin Adar to atone for any inadvertent disrespect shown during the ritual purification process or Tahara. Learning and a celebratory meal is then held in the evening to honor haverim. Invite your family, friends, clergy, and members of your community.
