Humans of Hebrew College Promoting Chesed

“I have a big dream. I’m interested in chaplaincy and look forward to taking part in the Rabbinical School’s new pastoral care track. I’d like to combine that interest with my passion for children’s education. I would love one day to build an inter-generational preschool-assisted living center, modeled after JCCs, that operates through a Jewish lens. The guiding principle for this initiative would be teaching and sharing chesed. I think if children are exposed to a lifestyle of chesed at a young age, it can affect the way they engage in community as adults and with adults. To me, chesed is more than participating in a one mitzvah day a year. It means a lifetime of mitzvot. It means showing seniors they are a core part of our community, by caring for them and giving them opportunities to do acts of loving kindness. It is about building a community and ultimately a world that is based on acts of kindness where at all ages and stages of life, we are working together to support one another. “
