Humans of Hebrew College #HumansHC

“I just finished playing the Sour Kangaroo in a production of  ‘Seussical the Musical’ at Open Door Theater in Acton, MA — a community theater whose mission is to provide accessible theater experiences. Our cast included 93 kids and adults ages 9-60, many with special needs or disabilities. All the shows had supertitles so the lines and lyrics were accessible to everyone. We also had three special performances —an ASL show where two signers performed with us; an audio-described show where someone did a play-by-play description of the show via special audio devices available for visually-impaired audience members; and a sensory- friendly show where the theater lights were turned up, sound turned down, and the lobby was set up as a ‘chill out’ space. This experience was honestly everything that is good about the world right now. Now that the show is done, I’m reminded of how fortunate I am to also work in a place that shares so many of these same values. Hebrew College is committed to inclusiveness and changing lives and communities. I’m so lucky to work and ‘play’ in these two communities.”
