Pluralistic Perspectives Day 1: Food Glorious Food
After traveling 24 hours we have finally arrived at the Metropolitan Hotel in Tel Aviv. We made a short stop in Jaffa where we watched the sun set and ate some oranges while our tour guide, Kayla educated us on the history of Jaffa and the oranges.
We stopped for a delicious dinner at restaurant Maganda where a beautiful table had been set for all of us. On it was traditional mouth-watering foods – all types of delicacies: hummus, baba ganoush, eggplant, chopped carrots, various pickles and olives, cabbages, tahini with parsley, tabbouleh, baklava with mint tea and other foods whose names escape us but the flavors will always be remembered. As we dipped the warm freshly made pita into the different dishes, we reflected on new friendships, new experiences with an aura of thankfulness enveloping us all.
We say goodnight from our jet lagged bodies and are looking forward to shopping at the Carmel shuk, Nahalat Binyamin arts and crafts fair, Weizmann Institute interactive visitor’s center, Clore Science Garden and then ending our day in Jerusalem.
