Humans of Hebrew College Mastering the Trill
By Wendy Linden
“’I’m a soprano, but I prefer to sing mezzo because it’s right in that perfect, sweet spot. When I’m in that mezzo range, I’m expressing myself not just by singing the notes, but by feeling and communicating the meaning behind the Hebrew text. I’m less focused on reaching a particular note or mastering a difficult trill correctly; I’m just embodying the music. It’s an out of body experience.”
(Dara Rosenblatt, cantorial student in The School of Jewish Music at Hebrew College three-year accelerated program)
