Water has always been a conduit for transformation in Jewish ritual. This sacred element unites two separate yet deeply connected movements: the Chevra Kadisha and Mikveh communities.
To honor the bridges between these movements, Hebrew College is proud to be a sponsor of Flowing Together: Water, Ritual, and Sacred Community, a first-of-its-kind event held online and in-person on Monday, April 7, 2025. Together we will gather for a day of learning, connection, and collaboration.
This gathering is a collaborative effort led by Kavod v’Nichum and the Rising Tide Open Waters Mikveh Network, in partnership with Hebrew College shared-campus partner Mayyim Hayyim, the Community Hevra Kadisha of Greater Boston, and the North Shore Community Hevra Kadisha, with additional support from Hebrew College and Keshet.
Schedule

In Person: 8:30 AM–3:30 PM ET at Hebrew College in Newton, MA.
Online: Participate in the keynote and workshop sessions from 9:15–11:50 am, followed by a break for lunch, and then reconvene from 1–3:30 pm.
About the Program
Mikveh and Chevra Kadisha traditions have long stood as separate yet deeply connected practices, both rooted in water, care, and sacred transitions. aims to bridge these movements, strengthen relationships, spark new collaborations, and pilot a model to inspire similar gatherings in Jewish communities across North America.
Highlights will include:
- Keynote Speaker: Anita Diamant – founder of Mayyim Hayyim and best-selling author of The Red Tent and Saying Kaddish, Anita will bring her deep insights on Jewish end-of-life practices, mikveh, and ritual renewal.
- Workshops with incredible educators from the Boston area on topics spanning Jewish text, ritual practice, embodied experiences, and community leadership.
- In-person participants will enjoy a light breakfast, lunch, and dedicated time for networking with fellow leaders and practitioners.
- Online participants will have a thoughtfully designed virtual experience, joining key sessions with tech support to ensure meaningful engagement.
