Community Blog New Trustees Bring Diverse Leadership Experience to Hebrew College Board

Since its founding more than a century ago, Hebrew College has continually evolved to meet the changing needs of Jewish life. As the College looks ahead to its next chapter, it is welcoming four new members to its Board of Trustees whose professional and communal leadership reflects a shared commitment to building strong organizations and vibrant Jewish communities.

Joining the Board this year are Kenneth Barron, Diana Lloyd, Rabbi Jessica Lowenthal, and Rebecca Voorwinde. Together, they bring experience spanning healthcare, law, congregational leadership, philanthropy, business, and Jewish education. As Hebrew College continues to deepen its impact as a center for Jewish learning and leadership, these new trustees will bring their demonstrated record of stewardship, vision, and love of Jewish life.

For Kenneth Barron, board service has been a constant throughout a career that has spanned the private, nonprofit, and civic sectors. In addition to leading a Cambridge-based real estate firm, he has served in governance roles with Mount Auburn Hospital, the Cambridge Chamber of Commerce, the Anti-Defamation League of New England, and community organizations throughout Greater Boston. His experience helping mission-driven organizations navigate growth and change brings a broad perspective to the Board’s work.

After a distinguished legal career, including more than two decades as a partner at Choate, Hall & Stewart and earlier service as an Assistant U.S. Attorney, Diana Lloyd has devoted significant leadership to the Boston Jewish community. Through roles with the Jewish Community Relations Council of Greater Boston, the Anti-Defamation League, Combined Jewish Philanthropies, Gann Academy, and other organizations, she has helped strengthen institutions dedicated to justice, education, and Jewish communal life.

Rabbi Jessica Lowenthal, President of the Hebrew College Clergy Alumni Association, expands her leadership to include the Board of Trustees. Ordained by Hebrew College in 2019, she serves as rabbi of Temple Beth Shalom, her appointment reflects the growing impact of Hebrew College alumni across Jewish life and the enduring relationship many graduates maintain with the College.

Rebecca Voorwinde brings deep experience in developing Jewish leaders across generations. As CEO of The Bronfman Fellowship, she leads one of North America’s most respected leadership programs for young Jewish leaders. Her career has centered on creating opportunities for learning, connection, and civic engagement, building on earlier work in corporate social responsibility and nonprofit leadership.

Together, the four new trustees reflect the breadth of experience that has long strengthened Hebrew College’s Board. Across their diverse professional backgrunds, each has demonstrated a commitment to helping institutions adapt, flourish, and serve their communities with purpose. As Hebrew College continues its work of educating rabbis, educators, and leaders for a changing Jewish world, their collective experience will help guide the College in the years ahead.
