This course is for anyone who is interested in improving their reading skills and learning to understand what they encounter. It is intended for those who can decode (read, even slowly!) Hebrew with vowels. We will expand vocabulary, learn basic Hebrew grammar and apply this knowledge to reading frequently encountered texts. Students will have an opportunity to select favored texts to study and learn. The course will focus on prayerbook and biblical texts, with a sprinkling of modern Hebrew. Students should purchase the textbook: The First Hebrew Primer – The Adult Beginner’s Path to Biblical Hebrew, Third Edition, by Simon, Resnikoff, and Motzkin.
