Come jump on the topic some people consider the third rail of American Judaism: God. This class is an exploration of answers to questions like: What even is God? How does God work? How do I know what God wants from me? We will focus on answers from the Kabbalistic tradition (writ large) across our four sessions:
1) The Zohar and the Explosion of Medieval Kabbalah
2) Isaac Luria (the Ari) and Safed Revival
3) Rebbe Pinhas of Korets and the Hasidic revolution
4) Rav Kook and (post-)modern Kabbalah
In each session, we will examine the related yet distinct answers offered by these teachers and have time to apply their ideas to our own lives.
