Prozdor at Hebrew College

Prozdor courses at Hebrew College meet on Sundays throughout the school year, September – May, with a catalogue of new course offerings in the fall (nine-week), winter (six- to seven-week), and spring (six- to seven-week) trimesters. Each trimester will feature two-to-three 50-minute learning blocks with multiple course options, including the option to take Hebrew during third period. Students may register for the year to access and choose from our full menu of courses and get the full community experience or may register for one course at a time.

CLASSES

Students may choose the subjects that they wish to study. Traditional texts, history, Israel, philosophy, social justice, and the arts are just some areas that engage our students as they develop a genuine love of Jewish learning.

Rutie Mackenzie-Margulies, P’16

Prozdor encourages personal growth in a way that no other form of organized education in my life ever has. It provided me with a community where I felt comfortable sharing and evolving my personal ideologies, but that is only possible because of the huge amount of respect that each student has for one another, and that unspoken camaraderie between the students as well as the teachers is one that I’m not sure I’ll ever find anywhere else. I am the Jew, and the person that I am today because of Prozdor, and I’m so thankful for that.

Prozdor Classes in the Community

For community-based courses, interested cohorts of 7-15 teens will gather with the Teen Learning Director along with your youth group leader, rabbi, parents, or education director to discuss the best topic and structure to meet your group’s needs and interests.

DATES
Community courses run in five-to-nine-week mini-series throughout the school year, from September to May. Course are offered on Sunday and weekday evenings, online or in-person, on a rolling basis and subject to educator availability. Please reach out to discuss the structure and timing that works best for your group.

RATES
Prozdor Community courses are $350 per session for 7-15 students; costs are usually shared by participating families and/or subsidized by the hosting synagogue, youth group, or camp.

Teens in Prozdor’s community courses may also choose to join one-to-two courses offered on Sundays at Hebrew College, Teen Hebrew Institute, or any of our other Teen Learning programs.
