The exhibit will run January 28-August 30, 2025.
The exhibit will showcase a lithographic series by renowned 20th Century Israeli artist Reuven Rubin depicting the life and times of King David. From the dramatic coronation of the young shepherd-turned-king to the end of his reign, the series brings the epic story of King David to life through Rubin’s distinctive style. Rubin’s interpretation reflects the artist’s experiences and perspectives as a Romanian-born immigrant to pre-’48 Palestine who lived through the birth of the modern Jewish state and helped define the creative aesthetic of the young country’s arts scene.
“What’s so remarkable about these works is the way Rubin was able to capture the essence of these timeless biblical narratives,” says Deb Feinstein, trustee and chair of Hebrew College’s Arts Committee.

Tamid Adult Learning course on KinG David
We are excited to offer an opportunity to learn more about King David through our winter Tamid adult learning course “Give Me a King – An Introduction to the Story of King David,” with instructor Avi Bernstein-Nahar, beginning Wednesday, January 29 (3 sessions).
Course Description: The David story may be the greatest single in-depth character study we have inherited from antiquity, a dramatic revelation of the social, political, and family life of a tragically flawed and deeply impressive founding King of Israel. Is this history or literature, fiction or fact? Scholar Robert Alter, who does not hesitate to compare the author of this story to the likes of Shakespeare, Tolstoy, and Dickens, lifts the veil on this text with his sparkling new English translation that one reviewer called “a literary landmark.” Lust, power, friendship, and a desperate flight from the angel of death: nothing human is omitted in this foundational narrative of the Hebrew Bible.
