UPDATE: Due to an overwhelmingly large volume of applications, we have made the difficult decision to move up the deadline date for this application to December 15th, 2020. After this date, we will no longer be accepting applications. We are grateful and delighted by the immense interest we have received around this opportunity. Thank you for your understanding.

Overview:

The Center for Teen Empowerment and Hebrew College have partnered to support the development of a COVID-19 Youth Commission. We are seeking a diverse group of highly motivated youth, 14-18 years old, living in the greater Boston area who are dedicated to confronting one of the most challenging issues of our times. COVID-19 has a tremendous impact on our communities, highlighting and exacerbating the systemic and racial inequities that already exist.

Youth Commission Members will assess the needs of their peers, families and  community members living in Boston and the surrounding cities and towns. In addition, members will develop recommendations and advocate for best policies and practices to address these needs.

Responsibilities/commitment:

Youth Commission Members will serve from January 18th to June 30th, 2021 and commit to an average of 15 to 20 hours a month. Members are paid $15/hr. Members will be required to meet weekly on Wednesdays from 6-8pm. There will be other meetings and additional assigned independent work. The work of the commission will occur virtually.

Application:

To apply, complete the application below. Applications are due December 15, 2021. Applicants must live in Boston or one of its surrounding cities and towns. Applicants must be between the ages of 14 and 18 years old. Qualified applicants will be contacted for an interview.
