Humans of Hebrew College Making a Difference with Birthright
“I had visited Israel before, but it was after my three-week trip there with my Shoolman School of Jewish Education at Hebrew College professors Deborah Skolnick Einhorn and Marion Gribetz that I knew I wanted to make Israel my home. In 2012, I made aliyah. The ironic thing is that after two years, I discovered that I could have a greater impact serving Israel doing meaningful Jewish commercial work in the United States. So I moved back to the U.S. in 2014. Thanks to my graduate training at Hebrew College, I was ready for leadership roles at camps, Jewish nonprofits and, most recently, at Taglit-Birthright Israel, where I train young North American leaders to be Birthright Israel trip staff. My goal is to help Birthright Israel participants strengthen their relationship to Israel beyond their 10 day Birthright Israel experience. By equipping North American staff with the right tools and resources, we strive to create lasting connections between our Birthright Israel Fellows and the young adults on their trips. Through this work, I really feel I am having a meaningful impact on the next generation of Jews.”
