Join fellow Jews committed to organizing for justice, both informally and professionally, in a collaborative exploration of traditional Jewish texts responding to societies in crisis. The course will cover the questions keeping you up at night. The responsa we study-many of which will be read in English for the first time- will reflect topics and questions generated by participants before the class begins: debt, gentrification, boycotts, labor rights- the floor is yours! We’ll frame our texts within today’s headlines and political theory, then learn together in chavruta (pairs) and large groups. By the end of the course, you will have built a robust Jewish vocabulary around the justice issues you care most about, empowering you to teach and inspire your communities toward action.

Hebrew College Open Circle Jewish Learning is for learners of all backgrounds.
