Passover: The Holiday with Its Own Textbook This online course is designed to be part Hebrew language class, part Hebrew text study. A Hebrew background is helpful but not required. Join us for an enriching exploration of the Passover Haggadah, the central text of the Seder, via close reading of several of its Hebrew passages. We’ll examine Biblical and Talmudic sources for the texts, particularly from the book of Exodus and Tractate Pesaḥim, with a focus on understanding the language and grammar of important Hebrew terms. Students at all Hebrew levels will ultimately deepen their experience of the Feast of Freedom. We’ll do a close reading of several Hebrew passages in the Haggadah, such as: “Even if we were all wise” -The Four Types of Wisdom “In every generation” (b’khol dor vador, v’hi she’amdah) “Go and study“ (tzei ulmad) The Four Expressions of Redemption mentioned in the Torah (Ex. 6:6-7) V’higadta l’vinkha (Ex. 13:8)
