Voice Tools

Voice Tools is a set of functions that include Voice Email and Voice Boards, which work like threaded text discussions but allow you to record audio messages rather than typing text. The following example is from a Hebrew language class homework assignment, but Voice Boards are also used for conversations and for recording other kinds of assignments (for example, cantorial samples).

  1. When you first log in to the Voice Board for a particular lesson, you will see something like this. Double-click the appropriate exercise to open it. This will open the second window.
  2. All you need to do is click Reply (as the instructions will remind you) and then record using the control panel.
  3. Your reply message, also shown in the illustration, will have a control panel for recording in the top right corner. The round button is "record," so when you are ready to start recording, click that. Say your homework, then click the square to stop. You can also use the pause button to stop temporarily; click it again when you are ready to continue. If you click stop (not pause), then record again, you will be asked to confirm that you want to overwrite the previous recording.
