Getting Technical Help

The Course Information button in your course Web site will include instructions on any technical aspects that are specific to your course, so be sure to click that button when you begin your course, and read everything listed there.

For other technical questions, note that any HCO student can immediately access technical help by clicking the Help! button in a course Web site. Your “Welcome to the Semester!” email will also contain a direct link to the help desk Web site.

To use the help desk system, you’ll need to create an account there. The log-in page lets you do so, or just log in to the help desk system if you’ve already created an account.

Technical help questions and answers are managed on two levels:

  • A community level in the form of a self service library of technical FAQs. Check here first: most likely, you’ll find your question and its answer .

  • An individual level, allowing you to submit service requests for problems you have not been able to solve using the self service.

You will find both these options on the home page of the help desk once you have created an account and logged in.

You can enter the help desk any time and look at the self service area to pick up tips and tricks for keeping your Internet connection running smoothly, using course tools, and handling technical problems. The self service area is continually updated as new questions arise and puzzles are solved.
