The Study Buddy Program
The Study Buddy Forum is open to all Hebrew College students, online and campus-based, including those not currently enrolled in Hebrew courses. Students access this forum through the online student center. Campus students not enrolled in online courses need to request enrollment in the online student center through their Hebrew instructors.
The Hebrew Study Buddy Forum allows you to meet others who share your interest in Hebrew language, to explore discussion and study opportunities or to help each other if you're stuck with a homework question. You can work in pairs or small groups, in person, over the phone, or online via Skype, a tool that provides free world-wide telephony.
Skype works with Windows, Linux, and Mac PCs and has a conference call feature that allows more than two people to meet online. Video conferencing is also available via Skype for Windows and iChat for Macs. (If you experience any difficulties with Skype, you might also try Gizmo, the latest entry in the free online telephony arena.)
To find your Hebrew study buddy, enter the Study Buddy Blackboard discussion forum in the Online Student Center, then read through the postings and respond to one that interests you, or click the Add New Thread button to start a new discussion. Please be sure to include the following information:
- Your Hebrew level.
- Whether you're okay with meeting over the phone or online.
- Where you live, if you'd prefer a local study buddy.
- Whether you're interested in forming or joining a study group.
- Your phone number, if you prefer to be contacted by phone.
- Provide any other information that you think may be helpful in finding the right study buddy for you.
To ensure that your response is received, we suggest that you reply within the discussion forum, as well as via e-mail, by clicking the author's address.
