Hebrew College Online Policies & Grading
Policies
Hebrew College's grading and other academic policies are available on the Hebrew College Web site at http://www.hebrewcollege.edu/html/current-policies.htm. Make sure you are familiar with these policies. Check this page at the start of each semester to make sure you are aware of any policy changes. Here are some additional specifics we want to make sure to highlight:
Grading
No student may be given a grade of INC (incomplete) without arranging to do so by agreeing on a specific alternate schedule with the professor before the last day of the semester. The professor needs to e-mail HCO about the INC agreement, including the expected date of completion, before the end of the semester so that HCO can make sure that the academic and registrar's offices are aware of the arrangement. Again, a grade of INC means that both the student and professor have agreed to special allowances, and for a student to receive an incomplete, the professor must agree, and advise HCO about this before the end of the semester.
Similarly, W (withdrawn) may not be assigned on the grade sheet. W means a formal withdrawal was made with the registrar during the semester.
The add/drop deadline is in the Hebrew College Academic Calendar, along with other important dates.
See your course's Course Information segment for specific information about your professor's grading criteria for that course.
About Non-Credit Students
Hebrew College does not have "auditors" per se. Non-credit students are encouraged and expected to participate. They are graded as follows:
- P = pass/"proficiency." Specific requirements for a pass are as outlined in the course information. If you have questions, for example about the need to do a final exam or paper in order to receive a P grade, please speak with your instructor.
- NG = no grade. This is awarded when the instructor cannot evaluate the work (for example, if not enough participation took place or not enough coursework was submitted). The student will have to retake the course and achieve a P in order to take a follow-on course-to progress to the next Hebrew level, for example.
- F = failing performance.
