If you think you've seen Europe and Israel, think again. Beginning this summer, the Me'ah Graduate Institute and Me'ah are offering four educational tours that will bring adult learning out of the classroom and into the fieldto the very origins of primary Jewish texts. Departing in July, August and November, the tours will feature extraordinary opportunities for Me'ah students and graduates to study abroad with gifted scholars.
Three of the tours will travel to Israel:
Bible and Rabbinics with Wellesley College's Dr. David Bernat, July 1528, is designed for Me'ah students and graduates;
Jewish Thought and Spirituality with Hebrew College's Dr. Nehemia Polen, August 1526, and
Second Temple History with Hebrew University's Dr. Lee Levine, November 717, are geared for Me'ah graduates. In addition, a Me'ah graduate tour to Central Europe will explore early modern Jewish culture in the cities of Berlin, Trieste and Venice with Smith College's Dr. Lois Dubin, July 29August 8.
The Scholar's Tours are based on current Me'ah and Me'ah Graduate Institute courses; however, spouses, significant others and Me'ah students and graduates who have not taken these classes are welcome to register as well. For those individuals, four-session, pre-trip evening courses have been created to ensure that everyone on the trips has the necessary background knowledge to get the most out of the experience.
