Camp may be over, but this fall's annual Prozdor Shabbaton at Yavneh for seventh to ninth graders had the largest turnout in the four-year history of the event: 250 students and 100 faculty, staff and counselors. The community-building weekend, September 1921, focused on a themeIsraeland offered educational programming. "The purpose of the Shabbaton was to bring the whole community together, not in a classroom, but in a more informal educational setting," says Dan Brosgol, Prozdor Informal Education Director. "We wanted students to get to see the adults and older Prozdor students as role models in addition to being teachers and friends." Students engaged in
hevrutah "buddy study" of a poem by Yehudah Amichai and in discussions on how kids can relate to Israel and Israeli culture. Throughout the coming year, Prozdor students will continue to explore the world around themparticipating in a Haifa exchange program and visiting London with Rachel Sklan, native Brit and Prozdor Informal Education Coordinator.
