Coming to a Computer Near You—
Even More Hebrew

The "Hebrew" in Hebrew College Online has come a long way and is about to undergo a makeover. HCO not only plans to continue expanding its Hebrew language offerings, but also to fine-tune them for an increasingly diverse and global student body.

As you read this, several students are taking HCO's first-ever Hebrew I–III Online summer courses—enabling them to develop beginning-level reading, writing, comprehension and conversational Hebrew language skills within a seven-week timeframe. And in the coming academic year, HCO aims to develop two advanced courses (Hebrew VI and VII Online). These new selections extend HCO's existing set of Hebrew language courses—the semester-long Hebrew I, II and III Online (offered since fall 2000) and the intermediate Hebrew IV and V Online (offered since fall 2004).

Each Hebrew course includes online lessons, oral homework assignments and class discussions, as well as textbook readings and written homework assignments that students submit via fax.

HCO has also begun to evaluate and enhance these courses, and to explore how they might be repackaged for specific audiences, adapted for use in on-campus courses and customized for students with different learning styles.
